B3N&J8CUB Blurs the Line Between Live-Action and Comic Book in New Single “Next Run”
The pop-rock artist’s latest release pairs a 1950s-set motel romance with an illustrated comic-book universe — and a lyric structure built entirely on chain-linked wordplay
LOS ANGELES, CA — B3N&J8CUB has released “Next Run,” a pop-rock single accompanied by a hybrid music video that cuts between vintage-toned live-action footage and an original illustrated comic-book world, produced in collaboration with FCG Studio LA.
“Next Run” tells the story of a couple caught in a repeating cycle — the same motel room, the same door, the same decision made again. The video visualizes that repetition literally: live-action scenes shot with 1950s-style color grading dissolve into hand-illustrated comic panels, with the two visual worlds colliding as the story escalates.
The song’s lyrics use a chain-verse structure, where each new line begins with the final word of the line before it — a technique more common in slam poetry and freestyle rap than pop-rock songwriting, giving the track’s spiraling, can’t-stop-repeating-the-mistake theme a structural backbone.
